There is no uniform list of taboos for children with skin allergies. The ones that should be strictly avoided are specific foods that have been confirmed through allergen testing and dietary records to induce or aggravate allergic symptoms. The rest do not need to be blindly fasted. Not long ago, I met a 5-year-old boy at a community free clinic. He had been suffering from eczema for more than half a year. His mother followed suit and stopped giving him milk, eggs, and seafood. The boy had a sallow complexion and thin skin. The allergen test revealed that he was only allergic to cashews. Everything else was fine. After almost a year of abstinence, the baby's growth curve dropped by two percentiles.
Some people will definitely ask, do you not need to pay attention to the highly allergenic foods mentioned on the Internet? That’s not what it means. There are two very extreme opinions now. One is that as long as you are allergic, you should avoid all "hair products", and the other is that you should avoid anything and let nature take its course. In fact, both of them are wrong. If you clearly get a rash after eating something, and you force the baby to eat it, it may even cause respiratory edema, which is too dangerous. ; However, if there is no reaction and you insist on avoiding it, it will easily lead to unbalanced nutritional intake of the baby and slow down the recovery of allergies.
When an allergy breaks out and the skin rash becomes severely itchy, try to eat less foods with high histamine levels, such as leftovers that have been stored for two or three days, fermented sauerkraut, underripe bananas, and freshly squeezed pineapple juice and kiwi juice. These are either high in histamine content or contain proteases that easily irritate the skin and mucous membranes. Eating these foods is likely to aggravate the itching, and the rash that originally disappeared quickly may recur. If you are not sure whether a certain food is really allergenic, you can go to the hospital to do a food challenge test. This is currently the gold standard for determining food allergy. It is more accurate than simply drawing blood to test IgE, and can also avoid unnecessary taboos caused by false positives.
You can usually keep a simple food diary for your baby. If you add a new food, observe it for 3 consecutive days. If there is no abnormality in the skin, eat it normally. If there is a reaction, stop for 3 months before trying again. It is much more reliable than reading the taboo list on the Internet. By the way, I would also like to remind you that hidden allergens are hidden in many processed foods. For example, nut powder and whey protein may be added to bread. When buying, check the ingredient list to avoid accidentally stepping on them. After all, each baby's allergens are completely different. A taboo list that suits other people's babies may be a hindrance to your baby. The most important thing is to find out your own baby's taboos.
