A short foreskin frenulum can be improved through local massage, drug treatment, frenuloplasty, circumcision, psychological counseling and other methods. A short foreskin frenulum may be related to congenital developmental abnormalities, local inflammatory stimulation, trauma and other factors. It usually presents with symptoms such as erection pain, discomfort during sexual intercourse, and frenulum tears.
1. Local massage
After daily washing with warm water, gently pull the frenulum with your thumb and index finger for 5-10 seconds each time, repeat 10-15 times. This method is suitable for mild frenulum shortness and helps lengthen the frenulum tissue through physical stretching. Pay attention when operating to avoid frenulum damage. Massaging with vitamin E ointment can enhance skin elasticity.
2. Drug treatment
When inflammation occurs, antibiotic ointments such as erythromycin ointment and mupirocin ointment can be used as directed by the doctor. If scar contracture exists, local injection of triamcinolone acetonide injection can be used to reduce fibrosis. Medication treatment must be carried out under the guidance of a doctor, and hormonal drugs are not allowed to be used by oneself. The perineum should be kept clean and dry during medication.
3. Frenuloplasty
The frenulum is surgically incised longitudinally and then sutured transversely to achieve a lengthening effect. This surgery is less invasive, and the recovery period is about 2-3 weeks. Regular disinfection and dressing changes are required after the surgery. It is suitable for those whose frenulum is obviously too short but whose foreskin length is normal. Sexual intercourse is prohibited within 1 month after surgery, and strenuous exercise that may cause wound dehiscence should be avoided.
4. Circumcision
For those with excessive foreskin or phimosis, part of the foreskin can be removed and the frenulum can be loosened simultaneously. Either traditional surgery or laser surgery can be chosen, and Vaseline gauze needs to be used to protect the wound after surgery. Complete healing takes 4-6 weeks. Short-term sensitivity of the glans penis may occur after the operation. It is recommended to wear loose cotton underwear to reduce friction.
5. Psychological counseling
When sexual dysfunction or anxiety is caused by a disease, psychological counseling can be used to relieve stress. Partner participation in treatment can help establish correct understanding and avoid avoidance behavior due to fear of pain. During treatment, non-penetrative sex can be used to maintain intimacy and gradually restore confidence.
Breathable cotton underwear should be chosen for daily use to avoid local moisture irritation. Be gentle when cleaning and do not use alkaline soap. Pay attention to supplementing the diet with high-quality protein and vitamins to promote tissue repair. Regular review during the postoperative recovery period to observe the wound healing. If there is repeated tearing of the frenulum or persistent pain, you should promptly go to the urology department to evaluate whether a second surgical correction is needed.
