Thin endometrium may be caused by factors such as endocrine disorders, uterine cavity manipulation injury, inflammation and infection, drug effects, congenital developmental abnormalities and other factors. Thin endometrium usually presents with symptoms such as decreased menstrual flow, infertility, and recurrent miscarriage. The cause needs to be determined through hormone level testing, ultrasound examination, etc.
1. Endocrine disorders
Insufficient estrogen levels are one of the main causes of thin endometrium. Diseases such as polycystic ovary syndrome, ovarian hypofunction, and thyroid dysfunction may interfere with hormone secretion and affect endometrial proliferation. It is accompanied by symptoms such as irregular menstrual cycles, hot flashes and sweating. Estradiol valerate tablets, progesterone capsules, estradiol dydrogesterone tablets and other drugs can be used as directed by the doctor to regulate hormone levels. At the same time, changes in endometrial thickness need to be monitored regularly.
2. Uterine cavity operation injury
Uterine cavity operations such as induced abortion, curettage, and curettage may damage the basal layer of the endometrium and lead to endometrial regeneration. Patients may experience symptoms such as continued decrease in menstrual flow and intrauterine adhesions after surgery. Hysteroscopy can clarify the degree of damage. Mild injuries can be repaired through sequential therapy with estrogen and progesterone. Severe adhesions require hysteroscopic adhesion separation.
3. Inflammation and infection
Inflammatory diseases such as chronic endometritis and tuberculous endometritis can destroy the endometrial microenvironment and inhibit endometrial growth. It is often accompanied by symptoms such as dull pain in the lower abdomen and abnormal vaginal discharge. Pathogen detection is required. Bacterial infections can be treated with antibiotics such as cefixime dispersible tablets, metronidazole tablets, and levofloxacin tablets. Tuberculosis infections require standardized anti-tuberculosis treatment.
4. Effects of drugs
Long-term use of birth control pills, gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonists and other drugs may inhibit endometrial proliferation. Chemotherapy drugs such as cyclophosphamide tablets may also cause the lining to thin. Most symptoms can gradually recover after stopping the medication. If necessary, the medication regimen needs to be adjusted under the guidance of a doctor or combined with estrogen supplementation.
5. Congenital developmental abnormalities
Congenital malformations such as uterine dysplasia and primordial uterus can cause the endometrium to remain weak. Usually accompanied by primary amenorrhea or severe oligomenorrhea, ultrasound shows a small uterine size. Some patients can improve their symptoms through hormone replacement therapy, and severe cases may require assisted reproductive technology to help them conceive.
Patients with thin endometrium need to maintain a regular daily schedule, avoid excessive dieting and weight loss, and appropriately supplement foods rich in phytoestrogens such as soy products and nuts. Pay attention to keeping your abdomen warm in winter and avoid cold water stimulation. It is recommended to perform aerobic exercise such as brisk walking, swimming, etc. 3-5 times a week to improve pelvic blood circulation. During the treatment period, medication must be strictly followed as prescribed by the doctor. It is prohibited to take hormone drugs without authorization. Ultrasound examinations will be performed every 3-6 months to assess the recovery of the endometrium. Women preparing for pregnancy should monitor their ovulation cycles under the guidance of a doctor, and if necessary, use auxiliary measures such as endometrial stimulation and intrauterine perfusion to improve endometrial receptivity.
