Basic gynecological evaluation, cervical cancer screening, pelvic ultrasound, and other items are all added on demand according to personal needs. There is no need to be fooled by the "luxury gynecological examination package" on the market that costs thousands of dollars. It is enough for ordinary healthy women of childbearing age to do these three types of routine items every year.
Last week, I accompanied my 28-year-old best friend to have her annual gynecological check-up. She started to do the preparation a week in advance, and even specially stocked up on electrolyte water to avoid panic due to blood deficiency after taking five or six tubes. As a result, the whole process was completed in half an hour, and the total cost including registration and examination was less than 500 yuan. It was just these three sets of routine items.
The most basic is the internal gynecological examination that everyone always finds embarrassing. The doctor will first visually check the vulva for abnormal growths and pigment changes, then use a dilator to observe the condition of the vaginal wall mucosa and the characteristics of leucorrhea, and then use bimanual examination to feel the size and position of the uterus, as well as whether there is tenderness or abnormal masses in the appendage area. Many people find this project embarrassing. I want to skip it, but in fact, many early-stage problems such as chronic pelvic inflammatory disease and vaginal wall cysts may not be detected by ultrasound in time. They all rely on the doctor's manual examination. I once treated a 26-year-old girl who only did ultrasound every year and was too lazy to do internal diagnosis. In the end, she suffered from waist and abdominal pain for almost half a year before chronic pelvic adhesion was detected. If she had done internal diagnosis earlier, it would not have taken so long.
During the internal examination, the doctor will take two cervical specimens at the same time, which is the commonly heard TCT and HPV combined screening, which is also called cervical cancer screening. This is currently a must-have screening item for women of childbearing age. There is still some controversy about the frequency of screening: foreign guidelines generally believe that if a single TCT test result is normal before the age of 30, the test can be done once every three years, and after the age of 30, if the double screen test is normal, the test can be done once every five years. However, many domestic clinicians will suggest that based on the popularity of screening in the country, it is better to check once every 1-2 years. Everyone can choose based on their own living habits and economic status.
Just go for pelvic ultrasound directly after taking the specimen. There are two types: transabdominal and transvaginal. If you have not had sex, choose the abdominal one. Just hold your urine in advance. If you have had sex, transvaginal ultrasound is recommended. You don’t have to hold your urine and you can see more clearly. It can detect uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts, and uterine cysts. Many people don’t know about common gynecological problems such as endometrial polyps and polycystic ovaries for the first time. They think that like abdominal ultrasound, they need to be fasting, and they will suffer from hunger all morning. In fact, fasting is not required for gynecological ultrasound, and even eating heavy oil and spicy hot pot will not affect the results.
If you have menstrual disorders, need to prepare for pregnancy, or are in perimenopause, you can add six blood tests for sex hormones.; People with a family history of ovarian cancer and cervical cancer can also check for gynecological tumor markers such as CA125 and HE4 as needed. ; If you happen to have vulvar itching or abnormal leucorrhea on the day of the examination, you can do a leucorrhea routine on the spot to determine whether there is vaginal inflammation, and there is no need to make a separate trip.
Oh, by the way, there is no need to pick a "perfect time" to go there. Except for the two days before the heaviest menstrual flow, which is not convenient for internal examination and screening, the rest of the time is fine. Just don't have sex and don't do vaginal douching 24 hours before the examination. Isn't it as complicated as you think?
