Uterine fibroids and cervical cyst are not the same disease. Uterine fibroids are benign tumors formed by the proliferation of uterine smooth muscle tissue, while cervical cysts are cystic lesions formed by the retention of secretions from cervical glands.

    1. Differences in causes

Uterine fibroids may be related to abnormally elevated estrogen levels and are common in women of childbearing age. Cervical Nessian cysts are often formed due to chronic cervicitis leading to glandular duct obstruction and the inability to discharge secretions. They are common in women with a history of childbirth or cervical injury.

    2. Symptoms

Common symptoms of uterine fibroids are increased menstrual flow, prolonged menstruation, and a feeling of distension in the lower abdomen. Larger fibroids may compress the bladder or rectum. Cervical Nassian cysts usually have no obvious symptoms, and occasionally increase leucorrhea, which is often discovered during gynecological examination.

    3. Inspection method

Uterine fibroids can be detected on gynecological ultrasound and appear as well-circumscribed, hypoechoic masses within the myometrium. Cervical Nassler cysts can be seen in gynecological examination as multiple small bluish-white vesicles on the surface of the cervix, and ultrasound shows an echo-free area in the cervix.

    4. Treatment methods

Asymptomatic small uterine fibroids can be observed regularly. Those with obvious symptoms can be treated with mifepristone tablets and other drugs to inhibit their growth, or undergo uterine myomectomy. Cervical Nassian cysts do not require treatment if they are asymptomatic. Larger cysts can undergo cervical cyst aspiration or laser treatment.

    5. Prognosis

Uterine fibroids may recur after surgery and may naturally shrink after menopause. The probability of recurrence of cervical cysts after treatment is low, but attention should be paid to preventing the recurrence of cervicitis.

It is recommended to have regular gynecological examinations and seek medical attention promptly if any abnormalities are found. Keep the vulva clean and avoid unclean sex. Eat a reasonable diet and control the intake of phytoestrogens such as soy products. Moderate exercise can help improve pelvic blood circulation, but avoid strenuous exercise that aggravates symptoms.
