A hard ball in the scrotum may be a symptom of epididymal cyst, testicular hydrocele, testicular tumor and other diseases. It is recommended to seek medical examination promptly and follow the doctor's instructions for treatment after a clear diagnosis.

Epididymal cysts are common benign lesions in the scrotum. They are mostly located above or behind the testicles. During palpation, a round or oval mass can be felt, with a smooth and elastic surface. This situation usually does not require special treatment and can be reviewed regularly. If the cyst grows and causes discomfort, surgical removal may be considered.

Testicular hydrocele manifests as a painless mass in the scrotum, with a positive light transmission test and a cystic feel when touched. A small amount of effusion may be absorbed by itself, but a large amount of effusion may require puncture or hydrocele inversion for treatment. Most primary hydrocele in infants and young children resolves spontaneously before the age of 2 years.

The lumps of testicular tumors are hard in texture, grow rapidly, and may be accompanied by a feeling of swelling. Ultrasound examination shows abnormal echogenic masses in the testicles. After diagnosis, radical orchiectomy combined with radiotherapy and chemotherapy should be selected according to the pathological type. Seminomas are sensitive to radiotherapy, with a 5-year survival rate of over 95%.

Hematoma organization after scrotal trauma may also form induration, often with a clear history of trauma and local bruises. Cold compress should be used to stop bleeding in the acute stage, and hot compress should be used to promote absorption in the later stage. Refractory hematoma requires surgical removal.

Daily attention should be paid to keeping the scrotum clean and dry, and avoiding prolonged sitting and strenuous exercise. Choose loose and breathable cotton underwear to reduce local friction. Observe the changes in the mass. If there are symptoms such as increased pain, redness and swelling of the skin, you should seek medical attention immediately.
