There are small fleshy bumps on the foreskin

The appearance of small fleshy bumps on the foreskin may be caused by pearly penile papules, ectopic sebaceous glands or condyloma acuminata. It is recommended to seek medical treatment in time for a clear diagnosis.

1. Pearly penile papules

Pearly penile papules are a benign physiological phenomenon. They appear as white or light red papules arranged neatly on the coronal edge of the foreskin, with a diameter of 1-3 mm. They are painless and itchy. It may be related to local hygiene conditions and excessive foreskin. Generally, no treatment is required, as long as the perineum is kept clean and dry. If it affects daily life, laser removal may be considered.

2. Ectopia of sebaceous glands

Ectopia sebaceum is a yellow or white flat papule caused by abnormal development of sebaceous glands, mostly on the inside of the foreskin or glans. It feels grainy when touched, but no secretions will leak out when squeezed. This phenomenon is related to changes in hormone levels and usually does not require treatment as long as repeated stimulation is avoided.

3. Genital warts

Condyloma acuminata are caused by HPV infection. They appear as light red soft excrescences in the early stage and can become cauliflower-shaped in the later stage. It is contagious and requires freezing, laser or photodynamic treatment, which can be combined with imiquimod cream, podophyllotoxin tincture and other drugs. Partners need to check simultaneously.

4. Folliculitis

Red pustules with tenderness caused by bacterial infection. It is mostly caused by insufficient cleaning and friction damage. Mupirocin ointment or fusidic acid cream can be used externally, and in severe cases, cefuroxime axetil tablets can be taken orally. You need to change your underwear frequently every day to avoid scratching.

5. Sebaceous cyst

Cystic tumors formed by clogged sebaceous glands have a hard texture and may cause secondary infection. Smaller cysts can be observed, and surgical removal is required when they enlarge or become suppurative. Keep the wound dry after surgery and use amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium tablets prophylactically.

It is recommended to wash the foreskin with warm water every day and avoid using harsh lotions. Choose breathable cotton underwear to reduce local friction. If the pimple continues to enlarge, ulcerate, or is accompanied by secretions, you should immediately go to a dermatology or urology department and conduct an HPV test or pathological examination if necessary. Sexual intercourse is prohibited during treatment, and co-treatment with a partner can reduce the probability of recurrence.
